Confidants offer Mourinho fresh encouragement of Man Utd Bale deal

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has not dropped his pursuit of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

After another difficult week for the Welshman, where his form and status has been questioned by the Madrid press, Mourinho is convinced United can pull off a huge transfer coup this month.

ABC says Mourinho's intermediaries believe Real would be willing to sell Bale for €100m - or even less - in the coming weeks.

The former Tottenham star has lost the confidence of Real president Florentino Perez, who no longer sees him as the natural heir to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real coach Zinedine Zidane, meanwhile, would be happy to go with Marco Asensio ahead of Bale in the new season - and also sell the winger should Kylian Mbappe arrive from Monaco.
