Colorado Rapids head coach Gary Smith has agreed terms to a new deal but his future at the club is still not 100% sorted.

The English tactician has had some issues with technical director Paul Bravo and admits he will only remain in the job if managing director Jeff Plush can sort something out between the pair.

“It's really in Jeff's hands," Smith told the Denver Post.

"As we speak, there's a decision that's got to be made ASAP. Yes, there's been some mileage in some dialogue with Paul. Are we going to come to an absolute reconciliation quickly? The answer to that is probably no.

"It's now down to Jeff to decide whether we move forward."

Smith stepped into the assistant coaching role with the Rapids in 2008 before taking over from Fernando Clavijo during that season. He led the club to victory in the 2010 MLS Cup.
