Former Liverpool star Stan Collymore fears Ashley Young's Manchester United career is on an irretrievable slide.

Collymore wrote in the People: "Ashley Young's fall from grace has been painful to watch.

"And I am concerned that the next time he dives he might find that he lands in the Championship.

"Everyone is slating him for play-acting – but there is no sign of him changing his ways.

"And there are two major reasons why I believe he will continue to go to ground too easily.

"Firstly, Sir Alex Ferguson gave him a warning about diving, and Young did not stop.

"The second is that new boss David Moyes then gave him a grilling over the issue ... and he still cannot stop.

"Those two facts indicate that this is a horrible habit that Ash simply cannot break. It has become part of his DNA."
