Clichy slams Man City trophy doubts over FFP claims

Manchester City's success cannot be brushed aside due to any cheating allegations.

That is the view of former defender Gael Clichy, who has no doubt that Pep Guardiola's team will be remembered fondly.

The Citizens won the Treble last season, while they are vying to win four Premier League titles in a row.

“Even if you have money, telling your players to run 13 kilometers is not easy, telling your players to go and win a cup again, it's not easy," Clichy told Super 6.

"As humans, once we have achieved something, it's very difficult to get motivated again. We are talking about a team that has won four of the last five Premier League titles and could be on their way to winning another one.

“None of the cases against City really matter. I can assure you telling your player to play out from the back, telling your center-back to play as a number six or taking a 16-year-old boy and turning him into the best English talent we've had in 20 years has nothing to do with that.

“I'm not denying that whatever is in the air is in the air, but until proven guilty, well, you just have to go with the fact they are the most dominating team over the last 10 years, and that's also a fact that nobody can really go against."
