Clement frustrated as Swansea fall into dropzone with Watford defeat

Swansea City dropped into the bottom three with defeat at Watford on Saturday.

An error from Swansea's Alfie Mawson led to Watford's winning goal at Vicarage Road with defeat leaving the visitors inside the Premier League bottom three.

Etienne Capoue capitalised on Mawson's sloppiness to score the only goal of a dull encounter, the 1-0 win taking Watford onto 40 points and all-but securing their top-flight status.

But it was a fifth loss in six games for the Swans, who are swimming against the tide in their bid to avoid the drop.

A frustrated Swans boss Paul Clement said: "I've been asked every week since I came here if the game that weekend was a must-win - well know we're in a situation with five games to go where it is must-win.

"Hull did not win which is a bonus but also a missed opportunity because if we had won we would have been out of the bottom three and it is still mathematically out of our hands. I think with these five games then more than likely we will need to win three, and who knows then if that will be enough? It will be very close if we do but I do believe we can win three out of five. We have four out of six before this season but we know Stoke is absolutely must win."
