Steve Clarke is happy to take charge at West Bromwich Albion.
The former Chelsea defender was assistant to Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge while also having stints as No 2 at West Ham, Newcastle and Liverpool.
And Clarke, who has also worked under Bobby Robson and Kenny Dalglish, said: "Becoming manager in my own right has always been my ambition. I've served my apprenticeship.
"I've done everything I could as an assistant. It is a process I've gone through, with a plan in mind, to work as hard as I could alongside some of the world's best managers and coaches in the world.
"I learned as much as possible from them before stepping out on my own.
"I've taken something from every boss I've worked with and I've felt ready to make the step up for some time.
"I'm delighted West Brom have given me the chance to make that progression and I am determined to make the most of it."
