Chivu agent: He wanted to work with Mancini

The agent of Cristian Chivu admitted yesterday that the Roma defender is likely to complete his move to Inter Milan today.

"Right now Chivu is in Rome with my brother and could be in Milan as early as tomorrow," said agent Giovanni Becali on Radio Spazio Aperto.

"He wanted to be coached only by Roberto Mancini and that is what he will get. We've had an agreement with Inter for a long time.

"Chivu helped Roma by foregoing his last two or three pay cheques, which is nothing to be sniffed at," continued Becali, one of two brothers who represent the former Ajax star.

Talks had irrevocably broken down last week, but resumed and a deal has seemingly been found.

"The negotiations were entirely ruled by the pride of Rosella Sensi and Moratti. It looked as if a miracle would be needed, but two such important clubs couldn't fail to find a middle ground. It was not a problem of money.

"He will not be at the Roma celebrations this evening. He could well be in the city, but I doubt he'll go to the Stadio Olimpico."
