Chinese solar power sponsor for Valencia

Valencia has ended its search for a new shirt sponsor by agreeing a multi-faceted deal with Chinese company JinkoSolar, reports Sport Business. The La Liga club has agreed an initial deal with the solar power product manufacturer which runs to the end of this season.

Reports in Spain claim the agreement has been sealed with a view to a long-term arrangement.

JinkoSolar will also provide technical expertise during the construction of Valencia's new stadium. Valencia sealed a deal with Spanish lender Bankia late last year allowing work to resume on the club's long-delayed 75,000-seat stadium project, which was halted in early 2008 due to financial problems.

JinkoSolar's chief marketing officer, Arturo Herrero, said: "In the name of JinkoSolar, it is an enormous pleasure to have this opportunity to be the main sponsor for this great club - above all for Valencia's international prestige and the chance to make an immediate impact in Europe with games between Valencia and other top teams."

Valencia president, Manuel Llorente, added: "Valencia is a big club with worldwide recognition and a large presence in China, where I had the pleasure of visiting a short time ago. Jinko is a leading company in their sector and their collaboration with us will be mutually beneficial.

"Our club is a European and worldwide brand, giving added value to the players who turn out for us and the sponsors who collaborate with us. We will open our doors to businesses and companies who are fighting to make their mark on this huge global market."

Llorente added: "JinkoSolar is not only our sponsor but also a sister organisation. Together we want to grow for the future. We are in the process of constructing what will be one of the largest stadia in world football. Alongside Jinko we are initiating a development project for renewable and sustainable energies within our facilities. Solar power is our future and, given our climate and sunshine, Spain should be a leading force in this."
