Pascal Chimbonda says Sunderland go into the derby with Newcastle United full of confidence after their point at Fulham on Saturday.

Chimbonda said: "We played well and we take a lot of confidence now into the Newcastle game. We have played well against Arsenal and Fulham and I think we are beginning to gel as a team.

"We played good football on Saturday against a team with good players. We went away from home and made a lot of chances.

"These are good things and we are looking forward to next weekend now. I think we can get better and better with every game we play together. That is very good for the future."
