The agent of Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini was in Manchester this week for the Carling Cup semifinal.

Chiellini has been linked with both Manchester United and Manchester City in the last 24 hours.

Davide Lippi said: "I was invited by some English clubs and I thank them. I saw last night the Manchester derby and I'm happy.

"Chiellini? He's a major player and it is important when a great club is interested. But he is an important player for Juventus, a few days ago he wore for the first time the captain's armband.

"It was a courtesy visit (to England)."
