Chicago Fire keen to change mind of ex-Leeds winger Rogers

Chicago Fire have first right of refusal for Robbie Rogers but the winger says he is not keen to play there.

The 25-year old former Columbus Crew and Leeds United man retired from the game in February but is eager to again play MLS although he is not looking to play with the Fire.

However, Chicago executive Javier Leon said team officials will meet with Rogers and his agent later this week to discuss both the player and the clubs intentions.

"He's a young guy with so much potential ahead of him and we still have the interest in having the opportunity to sit down and speak with him about what kind of opportunity he may have with the Fire," Leon told the Chicago Tribune.

"That's my expectation after speaking with his agent; we're talking about doing something (this) week."

Rogers has recently been training with MLS champions LA Galaxy but could only end up there if a deal is done with the Fire which appears difficult as they look like they want to try and lure him to Bridgeview.
