Chelsea have won the battle for Inter Milan fullback Douglas Maicon. Real Madrid were also chasing the want-away Brazilian, but Marca says Chelsea have clinched terms for the defender.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich moved quickly to land Maicon as Real dithered over Inter's asking price.

Inter chief Marco Branca will now seek the green light from president Massimo Moratti to sell Maicon to Chelsea. The deal could be done as early as this week.
