Chelsea are chasing Real Madrid star Gareth Bale. The Daily Express says Manchester United have already set aside more than £100m to make the move happen in the summer.

Real are believed to have demanded that Spanish keeper David De Gea is also included in the deal, and were said to be looking at Chelsea's Eden Hazard as a direct replacement for the Welsh forward.

But fresh reports in Spain claim that Jose Mourinho tried to beat Louis van Gaal to the punch with £100m bid of his own.

It is claimed that Chelsea lodged the bid with Real last week but saw it dismissed in no uncertain terms.
