Chelsea stumble into CL knock out stage

Chelsea progressed through to the first knock-out round of the Champions League with a hard fought 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge over CFR Cluj. The Blues seemed to be on their way to a comfortable win when Salomon Kalou opened the scoring just before the break.

But the Transylvanians stunned the home crowd with an equaliser on 65 minutes, Yssouf Kone heading home.

It was left to substitute Didier Drogba to secure the win with a 71st minute half volley and leave Chelsea in second place in Group A behind Roma.

Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari told the club's official web site he had no preference over the opposition in the next phase.

"We are second but what I said before, if we have 12 points we are first, 11 second, and now we wait for what happens in the draw.

"I don't choose the team (we play), for me it is no different to play Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, any team, because they are the best. I don't choose one team to play. If we want to arrive in the final games, we need to win A, B or C.

"If we win or draw two times and arrive in the next step I am satisfied, I am happy. We have two chances to arrive in the next step and we are second, we arrive."

Scolari was pleased following the win, and also praised the opposition on their performance.

"I think we played well, not very well, but well. I like this team (Cluj). It is not a big difference, we had more of the ball but they played the counter-attack well and have good group spirit and I like some of their players," he said, before admitting some nerves when the scores were level.

"Not only me, my players and maybe some people in the crowd because in that time we draw and they only had one or two chances and scored," he said. "We had three or four and did not score more. We were more nervous than before."
