Chelsea skipper Terry: Wilshere has Zola-esque quality

Chelsea skipper John Terry has likened Arsenal whizkid Jack Wilshere to former teammate Gianfranco Zola.

Terry has marvelled at Wilshere's performances for club and country.

The Chelsea skipper added: "The way he glides past players is very much Zola-esque.

"I don't want to build pressure on him - he is his own player - but I watched him in the Barcelona games for Arsenal and he was gliding through players. He shows a huge amount of confidence for someone so young. His ability speaks for itself.

"For him to play in the Arsenal side at such a young age, that just goes to show what Arsene Wenger thinks about him.

"He's small but he's strong, very agile, sharp, and quick. He could play in that holding role or easily in behind the front two as well. He gives you options in the squad.

"For someone so young he just wants the ball always.

"There'll be times in games when you'll be under pressure as a team. I remember myself, at a young age, sometimes you don't want the ball but he's not like that.

"He wants the ball in every situation, even if he's got one or two men up him. We give him the ball and we trust him, knowing he can retain possession and he'll give it back."
