Chelsea skipper Terry praises Mourinho after Man City triumph

Chelsea captain John Terry has heaped praise on manager Jose Mourinho following Monday's 1-0 win at Manchester City.

The Blues became the first team to win at the Etihad Stadium this season and first to deny City a league goal at the venue since November 2010 when Branislav Ivanovic fired home in the 32nd minute.

Mourinho set his side up to thwart Manuel Pellegrini's free-scoring outfit and it proved a masterstroke by the Portuguese which was noted by Terry.

"Very much so. This is where he comes into his own," he told Sky Sports 1.

"We spent a couple of days working on their strengths and weaknesses.

"After the disappointment of dropping two points against West Ham it was important to come here and bounce back.

"In the first 15 minutes they were very good and made it difficult. We showed a lot of character. Overall we were very solid and happy for the win." The centre-back added: "They've been phenomenal scoring goals and turning teams over.

"It was important not just for us but for other teams, showing that they can be beaten."
