Chelsea skipper John Terry says the lull between the end of the Premier League season and the start of a major tournament has been England's undoing in the past.
Terry believes the rigours of the Premier League campaign is the best preparation.
He said: "The problem is not about playing too much during the season.
"For me, as a player, if you're playing two or three games a week you can get into a rhythm.
"Where we suffer is that you get to the end of the season and you have two or three weeks off, and then you try to get back into it. You lose that sharpness, that fitness, that touch.
"I'd like to finish the season and go to the Euros the next day. Everyone's fresh and ready to go the following week.
"There are a lot of games and there's pressure. That's the world we live in. It's a question of how we deal and cope with that."
