Chelsea skipper Terry: Fulham's Bullard should be England inspiration

Chelsea captain John Terry says Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard for any England hopeful.

"I think the manager (Fabio Capello) has showed with the squads he's picked that he'll select you if you do well," said the Three Lions skipper.

"Take Jimmy Bullard, he's been playing great football in the Premier League and it's been noticed by the manager.

"I think that's a sign for everyone, not just the players at big clubs but all clubs, no matter what age, that if you do well and impress him he's going to have the confidence to select you."

The result against Croatia, and the signs of future talent coming through, gives Terry hope England are now on the right track.

"I'm very confident about the future. We've always known - and I think that's why the fans have been frustrated - that we've got the players and the manager to compete with the top teams at the top level," he added.

"So we have to start doing it on a regular basis. We need to come together and gel at international level and that's what we're starting to do.

"It (victory over Croatia) was definitely a step forward and hopefully that's a turning point."
