Chelsea skipper Terry denies touting himself for World Cup endorsements

Chelsea captain John Terry has denied touting himself to interested sponsors ahead of the World Cup.

The email was sent by Enfield-based Riviera Entertainment saying: "John Terry is available to create effective brand awareness and endorse products and services globally."

But angry Terry, 28, who is also skipper at Chelsea, was quick to shoot it down. He said: "An email inviting commercial endorsements for me has been published.

"This email was sent without my authority or knowledge and was not approved by me (or those advising me)."

Terry is not in breach of any Football Association rules or his contract at Chelsea - the Blues allow him to pursue any commercial deals as long as they do not interfere with his football.

Terry is the main face for the Umbro sportswear brand and has appeared in adverts for Samsung, Nationwide and King of Shaves.

He also has a deal with football gaming series Pro Evolution Soccer.
