Chelsea are ready to trigger the buyout clause in Tyler Adams' Leeds contract.
The USA captain can leave Leeds for a set £20m after their relegation last season.
The midfielder is viewed at Chelsea as an alternative to Brighton ace Moises Caicedo.
Adams, 24, has no interest in playing out a season in the Championship.
The Daily Mail says Chelsea intend to meet his buyout clause this week to have Adams available for their Premier League opener against Liverpool.
