Chelsea ponder hijacking Man Utd pursuit of Lindelof

Chelsea are believed to be showing significant interest in Victor Lindelof.

The Benfica defender continues to be heavily linked with a winter move to Manchester United, but the Daily Mirror says Chelsea are also extremely keen.

Antonio Conte wants a new defender at Stamford Bridge for the second half of his first Premier League title chase and it is understood that Sweden international Lindelof fits the bill.

United boss Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of the 22-year-old but Benfica are playing hardball by attempting to drive up the price of the £38million-rated player.

That has not stopped Chelsea and Inter Milan from being credited with an interest but whether or not either or both make a genuine bid this January remains to be seen.
