Chelsea are ready to splash out on Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi.

The News of the World says the 27-year-old has stunned Sunderland with his demand for a mammoth £130,000-a-week, which has alerted Chelsea.

However, even Chelsea will refuse to match the wage demands of Kuranyi, who has led Schalke to second spot in Germany.

Chelsea have the financial muscle to blow Sunderland out of the water but Kuranyi is threatening to stay in Germany and move for nothing in the summer.
