Chelsea midfielder Obi Mikel: Kalou can get on my nerves!

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel admits his great pal Salomon Kalou can get on his nerves sometimes.

The pair have grown up together as champions with Chelsea.

Obi Mikel told The Sun: "He does my head in. Right now, just before I came here we were fighting in the dressing room and I don't even know what it was about.

"He sees me and he is so happy, so happy. I am happy to see him but sometimes I want to be alone, to have a quiet time and he just comes in and barges into me, and wants to upset me.

"Yesterday he was bored in his house and he called me up and started talking rubbish.

"I said 'listen, you might be bored but I'm not, leave me alone, I've got something to do'.

"He was on the line for maybe 10 minutes and in the end I had to hang up. Sometimes he has nothing to do and just drives to my house to drive me crazy.

"Everyone knows how close we are. If they see us doing something like arguing they know that no matter what happens we will still be friends.

"Salomon is a good guy. We take the p**s out of each other a lot. But we have also helped each other a lot since we have been here. When you come to Chelsea it can be difficult because of the calibre of players - big names, big transfers, who all have to play.

"We came into the team as young players. We knew it would be difficult for us and we helped each other and gave each other confidence. In the future it will be good too. We've stayed and stuck by each other. We are among the senior players. It was all about being patient.

"Coming here we knew what we were getting into. We knew a lot of people would want to know all about us. We've tried to live good lives. At first I was late for training a lot. I had to adapt and change, speak to the guys and straighten myself out. Now I can do it with the younger guys."
