Chelsea midfielder Lampard: I know people waiting for me to fail

Chelsea ace Frank Lampard knows people were queuing to write him off earlier this season.

Lampard says he may even carry on as an England player after next years Euros.

"I wasn't surprised with all the talk about my future," he told The Sun.

"It comes with the territory. I've been lucky to play very consistently at Chelsea, which is pretty abnormal in a way.

"Players and managers have come and gone but I've remained a constant. So when I was out of the team, it was normal that people picked up on it. Once you're over 30, they look at you in a different way.

"You have to come to terms with that yourself. And use it as the impetus to try and show people you can still do it.

"You have to accept facts. Things are easy when you're one of the first picks and everything's going great. But you have to accept the other side and still contribute whether starting or from the bench. If you don't show that attitude, you won't get the best out of yourself. People won't look at you in the right way.

"I always believed when I was fully fit again I could play as I've always played.

"Happily, I've been able to do that and I'm thankful to be sitting here now."
