Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel believes that captain Cesar Azpilicueta is the ideal leader.

The Spanish right-back is out of contract in the summer, but only cares about winning trophies with Chelsea between now and the end of the season.

Given the turmoil at the club involving its assets and ownership, the leadership of Azpi has become immensely important.

Speaking after the team's 2-1 win away from home against Lille in the Champions League, which takes them into the quarter-final, Tuchel stated regarding his captain to reporters: "He is maybe the perfect example to describe a person as a leader. He is doing it in good times and bad times.

"If he is a regular starter or not. If he is playing a wing-back, which is maybe not his best position, he is there.

"He lives what it takes to be a Chelsea captain.

"We do not need extra, extra at the moment. We just need reliable teamwork and reliable spirit.

"I don't know if Azpi is talking to the players. I just know he is doing what he normally does."
