Chelsea have failed with a bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.

Blues have been chasing Napoli star Edinson Cavani, but its the Pole who is emerging as their main centre-forward transfer target.

A source told ESPN: "Chelsea have been offered Cavani, but not everybody at the club thinks he is the right player to suit their formation. The Polish centre-forward is the one the club bid for, but the offer was rejected."
