Chelsea legend Ashley Cole has been sent off in action for LA Galaxy.

Giovani dos Santos, formerly of Tottenham, produced another superb goal on Sunday to help LA Galaxy draw 1-1 at Sporting Kansas City, despite being having Cole sent off in the second half.

It was Dos Santos' fourth goal in three Major League Soccer matches, a run of form that has seen him included in Mexico's preliminary 40-man squad for the 2016 Copa America Centenario.

Galaxy - whose 18 goals are the most in the MLS this season - will be happy to have escaped Kansas City with the draw after seeing Cole sent off in the 70th minute.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea defender received two yellow cards in the space of 32 seconds, the first for time-wasting on a throw-in and the second for a clumsy tackle on Benny Feilhaber.

"Some days are going to look like this," said Galaxy coach Bruce Arena, who had to make do without injured former England captain Steven Gerrard.

"To grind out and get a point here is important. We're pleased with that."
