Chelsea hero Sinclair abandons Cup tie with Colwyn Bay

Chelsea hero Frank Sinclair has invited controversy after forcing an FA Trophy tie to be abandoned with seven minutes to play.

His Colwyn Bay side were 2-0 down at home against Altrincham in the third qualifying round on Saturday when the referee was ko'd by a calf injury.

There was no fourth official. Although the linesman could have refereed Colwyn Bay rejected the offer of a replacement from the crowd to run the line amid suspicions that he had been drinking.

"You can't just have any Tom, Dick or Harry come in and finish the last 10 minutes of the game," said ex-Chelsea star Sinclair.

"There was no-one on our side that had any official badges. One of their staff said he would see the game out with no qualifications.

"It's human nature that if there was a big decision to make, we wouldn't have got it. I'm within my rights to not agree to carry on."
