Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has wise words for Liverpool star Luis Diaz.

The Colombian winger is suffering at the moment, as his father is still kidnapped by criminals in his home country.

Mikel would understand the feeling better than most, as his father was kidnapped twice while he was a player.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the Nigerian said: "I know exactly what you're going through and I hope you stays strong.

“I know it's a tough time for him as a player and his family, what they are all going through, it's absolutely heartbreaking.

"So my message to him is stay strong and do all you can to make sure your dad is released."
