Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele says they blundered allowing Alvaro Morata to leave in January.
Gonzalo Higuain's arrival saw the exit of Morata to Atletico Madrid on loan.
But Makelele, who made more than 200 appearances for the Blues, told Stadium Astro: "He is a smart player who can score goals and likes to dribble.
“But the one I believe in is Morata.
“For me, Morata is the real striker. I see him like [Karim] Benzema, with the technique and goals.
“Plus he's quicker than Higuain and [Olivier] Giroud."
The 46-year-old went on to explain why Higuain was preferred to the Spaniard.
“For me, it depends on the manager," Makelele added. “Why does the manager prefer Higuain?
“Because he's more adapted to [Eden] Hazard and Willian, he's more technical.
“Sarri had Higuain before, so kew all about his mentality."
