Frank Arnesen's future at Chelsea remains dicey, it has been revealed.
The Mirror says Peter Kenyon's reign as Chelsea chief executive came to an end last night - with arch rival Frank Arnesen fearing he could be next out.
While Kenyon's exit was proof that Arnesen was the victor of the power-struggle for prominence in Roman Abramovich's inner circle, the Danish sporting director is still in the firing line over the Gael Kakuta affair.
Kenyon's exit - with a compensation package of around £2.5million - was unrelated to the Kakuta case, but came after his role at the centre of the club's affairs had been stripped away over recent months as Arnesen's stock rose.
But if Chelsea, whose submissions to FIFA will be led by Kenyon and chairman Bruce Buck, do not overturn or at least reduce the two transfer window ban imposed for "inducing" Kakuta to break his contract with Lens, the buck will stop with Arnesen.
One senior Blues figure said last night: "At Chelsea everybody has to take responsibility for their ultimate actions and decisions.
"The final decision on Kakuta from the Court of Arbitration for Sport will have to be taken into account."
