Chelsea fans see spirit returning: Why Guus has us believing again

It is still far from perfection, but there are clear signs of improvement at Chelsea.

The thing that I find most pleasing is that the players look so much more motivated under Guus Hiddink than they did under Jose Mourinho. It would appear that Guus has brought a breath of fresh air to the club.

Yes, this Chelsea team is still underperforming from their high standards, that remains clear for all to see, but the 'never say die' attitude seems to have returned.

Thinking back to Sunday, under Mourinho, I think that once Manchester United had taken the lead, Chelsea would have essentially rolled over and died. It is so different under Hiddink, though, as we never gave up on getting that equaliser, and eventually it came.

Another example of this is the Everton game. Under Mourinho we would have most likely given up at 2-0. But Everton's second goal seemed to kick us into life. Even when we fell behind again at 3-2, we kept going, and got the equaliser with the last kick of the game.

Of course, this has been a ridiculously disappointing season for Chelsea, but when the players are showing their maximum determination on the pitch, I can't ask too much more from them.

The biggest issues at Chelsea are off the pitch.

The club claim to be in constant dialogue with John Terry, yet the man himself claims the opposite. He said in his post match interview after the Man United game that there is no communication at this point in time between himself and the club.

John wants to stay, every single one of the fans want him to stay, but the board couldn't care less...
