Chelsea eyeing Lille striker Jonathan David for January

Chelsea are eyeing Lille striker Jonathan David.

Jeunes Footeux says Graham Potter's side are now planning to make a January move for David to build on the positive start for the Blues since the Englishman took over.

Chelsea are unbeaten in six games since Potter arrived at the club and have moved up to fourth place in the Premier League.

And David is being targeted by the Blues as they look to find a younger alternative to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the Canadian valued at between £38-46m.

This is despite Aubameyang's promising start, with the Gabonese forward having scored three times in just six appearances for the west London club so far.

He only joined the club in the summer from Barcelona, but at the age of 33, the former Arsenal skipper is not seen as a long-term option for Potter's side.

His disappointing performance in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday is also said to have had an impact on the proposed move for David.
