Chelsea are currently discussing compensation terms with Lyon to bring back Emerson Palmieri to the club.

The Blues have backed away from making a move for Lucas Digne, per Goal.

However, a long term injury to Ben Chilwell means they do want to add a left-back to the squad.

Rather than splurging on a new signing mid-season, they are looking to bring back Emerson, if they can agree on terms with French side Lyon.

There is no termination clause in the loan deal, which means Lyon can hold onto the Italy international all season if they want.

However, Chelsea can offer them a fee to make the deal happen, and Emerson is said to want to return to the Stamford Bridge club.
