Chelsea defender Matt Miazga confirms being open to Anderlecht stay

Chelsea defender Matt Miazga is set to extend his stay with Anderlecht next season.

The USA international is currently on-loan with Anderlecht this term. The arrangement does not include a permanent option.

Anderlecht coach Vincent Kompany is eager to explore extending Miazga's deal into next season, having been impressed by the centre-half's impact this campaign. Kompany wishes to do the same with on-loan Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha.

Voetbal24 reports Miazga is open to staying longer with the Belgian giants.

"I said before that I want a little more stability," he said, quoted by Voetbal24.

"In November it was already considered whether I could or would like to stay after this season, but there were so many important matches that we wanted to wait and see.

"This summer we will see further."

Miazga, 25, has a contract with Chelsea to June, 2022. This season with Anderlecht, the defender has impressed in 23 appearances.

Miazga joined Chelsea in 2016 from New York Red Bulls and has since spent time away on-loan with four different clubs - and in four different countries. Vitesse Arnhem, Nantes, Reading and now Anderlecht have all counted on the stopper over the past four years.
