Chelsea defender Gary Cahill delighted with thumping Newcastle win

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill was delighted with victory over Newcastle United.

Pedro's double and goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Bertrand Traore gave the Blues a 5-1 win to lift them up to 12th in the table, Andros Townsend grabbing a late consolation for the visitors.

The Blues travel to Paris St-Germain on Tuesday for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie before welcoming Manchester City to Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup fifth round.

"We want to go as far as we can in FA Cup and Champions League. This is a very important week for the club. We've got arguably our two biggest games of the season coming up," Cahill said.

"It's great to be back on the pitch and, ultimately, getting the result. It was not just the result but the performance today was fantastic - great to be part of.

"We didn't get everything right as we conceded late on but we got most things right.

"The appetite and hunger was there. Numerous times we won the ball back quickly after losing it."
