Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta helped former club Olympique Marseille in their market work last summer.

While Chelsea have failed to make any new signings these past six months, it's been revealed Azpilicueta assisted OM in their swoop for Villarreal defender Alvaro Gonzalez.

Alvaro joined OM on-loan last summer and has established himself as coach Andre Villas-Boas' prime defensive leader.

Le Parisien says Azpilicueta spoke to Alvaro about the move when OM first made contact and encouraged him to take the plunge.
