Chelsea could hand Didier Drogba a playing contract if he can get a release from his Montreal Impact deal.
The Daily Mail says Chelsea are continuing to negotiate with Montreal Impact over the release of Drogba.
Guus Hiddink has confirmed he is open to Drogba, 37, returning to Chelsea as an assistant with the possibility he could also be utilised as an impact player from the bench also being discussed.
Drogba is under contract to Montreal who confirmed: "We understand his attachment, but our objective is to have him back for another season.
"We are doing everything we can to have him back with the Impact in 2016. We are willing to accommodate him. This situation is out of our control."
