Chelsea believe they've found a breakthrough in new contract talks with Thiago Silva.

The veteran arrived in the summer as a free agent from PSG, signing terms to the end of the season - though with the option of another 12 months.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports negotiations have been ongoing for some time and an agreement is now close.

Indeed, Romano states Chelsea could announce a new deal for Thiago Silva in the coming days.

The Brazilian played for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel at PSG and despite reports of friction in Paris, it appears the pair are happy working together in London.
