Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly held talks with Vahid Halilhodzic before turning to Graham Potter as new manager, it has been revealed.
L'Equipe says the former Morocco coach was on Chelsea's shortlist after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel last week.
Halilhodzic met with Boehly and was open to the possibility of moving to London after three years at the helm of a national team.
Halilhodzic famously banished Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech from his Morocco squad before last season's Africa Cup of Nations.
In the end, however, the choice fell in favour of former Brighton boss Potter.
