Chelsea are closing on a permanent deal for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

AS says Real Madrid and Chelsea are now very close to reaching an agreement for the Croatian's transfer.

Sources close to the negotiations have confirmed that a meeting point has not yet been reached regarding the amount of the transfer. However, both parties hope that an agreement will be reached soon.

Real wants to sell for around €50m.

Chelsea hope to sign Kovacic before his loan expires on Sunday. While banned from working this window, Kovacic is exempt due to him being registered with Chelsea when the suspension was made.
