Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia is ready to challenge Manchester United for Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann.
The Sun says this summer, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wanted more players with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley all being identified as priority targets early on.
And Granovskaia - whose work this summer has infuriated Conte - could make a move for Griezmann to get the Blues boss off her back.
Chelsea could try to land the France international by including Diego Costa in any negotiations.
However, they are likely to face competition from Manchester United, who are maintaining long-term interest in the Frenchman.
