Chelsea caretaker Lampard: Real Madrid clash made for Kante and Fernandez

Chelsea caretaker boss Frank Lampard is counting on a big performance tonight against N'Golo Kante.

Kante is set to start at Real Madrid in the first-leg of the Champions League quarterfinal. He was rested by Lampard for Saturday's defeat at Wolves.

Lampard said, "I think N'Golo is a special player.

"He did it in the Super Cup final for me against Liverpool, passed a fitness test and was the best player on the pitch. We miss him because of how good he is."

Along with Kante, Lampard feels the night is made for Enzo Fernandez.

"You only become a leader in action. No point being called one until you show it on the pitch. We have a lot of players with titles, we can't call ourselves completely young. Modern leaders are changed in the dressing room, we can't replicate what the squad was 10 or 15 years ago. We have to give young players a chance to develop into leaders. Enzo is becoming a leader.

Games like tomorrow give a big chance."
