Chelsea boss Graham Potter has lavished praise on defender Marc Cucurella.

The left-sided flier, who can play left-centre-back and left-wing-back, arrived from Brighton in the summer.

Soon joined by his ex-Brighton coach Potter, Cucurella still struggled to find his feet at the club.

But after an impressive Champions League display against Borussia Dortmund in midweek, Potter hailed Cucurella during his press conference: “It got tricky in terms of him and the impact on the team. So we tried to shield him and we know his quality.

“I thought the chance for him to come into the Champions League was the right time and he performed well."
