Chelsea boss Potter uses Estupinan to make new swipe at Brighton fans

Chelsea boss Graham Potter could not resist yet another dig at the Brighton fans who booed him this weekend.

Potter was humiliated on his return to the Albion with his new club, losing 4-1 at the Amex Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League.

During the contest, Brighton fans jeered Potter, given he left the club a month ago and took his entire backroom staff with him.

Asked about Pervis Estupinan, who scored in the game for Brighton, shaking his hand, Potter said post-game: “There are some appreciative people out there."

He then added: “It was not a nice afternoon for me at all, that's for sure or anybody connected to the club. But it's one in nine or ten.

“We will analyse it as best as we can and see how we can do better. I might have to give this one a bit of time to be honest because emotionally it's tough. So you have to make sure you have a clear head when you analyse it.

“But I know the quality of the team we were playing against and the atmosphere. I never saw it like that in the three and a half years I was here. There was a motivated team and club, and that is okay.

“For whatever reason and I am not throwing anyone under the bus, we weren't quite there. It would be easy for me to blame the players after a game but it isn't as straightforward as that. Sometimes you get things wrong tactically."
