Chelsea boss Pochettino concedes Palmer a pleasant surprise

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino admits to being surprised by youngster Cole Palmer's impact this season.

The Argentine head coach was reportedly not convinced about signing Palmer in the summer.

However, the club's sporting directors brought him in from Chelsea and he has been a revelation.

Speaking to reporters, Pochettino stated: "We are always optimistic when you sign a player. But it's true he is doing fantastic.

“He's doing great. I think in the first six or seven months, he is doing a very good job. We are so happy with the impact, with his talent of course, with the way he is performing.

"Always you expect, when you sign a player, that he can perform and improve the team. But I think in the way that he is performing, it's fantastic because he is helping the team to achieve things that we want."
