Chelsea boss Frank Lampard insists Pedro and Willian could yet stay beyond the end of this season.

Lampard has been boosted by the decision of out-of-contract wingers Pedro and Willian to agree to short-term contract extensions to ensure they can continue playing for Chelsea until the conclusion of the season in August.

Lampard said: "I am pleased, negotiations were easy. They wanted the same thing. They are important players, so I'm happy."

On the possibility that both players may even sign new contracts with Chelsea for next season, Lampard struck an optimistic tone.

"We are still talking to the players, Willian in particular. I felt confident that they would remain. They have been fantastic for the club. We will keep talking and see."
