Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez felt the penalty call which contributed to his sides loss to Steaua Bucharest was soft.
The Blues were beaten 1-0 in the Europa League Round of 16 first leg in Romania tonight after Ryan Bertrand fouled Raul Rusescu in the area just after the half-hour mark. Rusescu dusted himself off to slot home underneath Petr Cech but Benitez rued the decision that ultimately lost the away tie for the European champions.
"I think it was very soft. To give a penalty in this situation, and especially when you have so many referees in their positions, it is soft," Benitez said.
"You cannot change the situation but it is very soft. If you give the penalty, why not the red card? Strange."
