Chelsea attacker Sterling concedes: I was carrying extra kilos last season

Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling admits he's sought a change of diet to improve his form.

Sterling concedes he struggled in first season last term.

He said, "Going back to last season, being in a position that I am familiar with towards the end was quite nice. It was actions I have been doing over the past couple of years so it feels nice to be in a familiar role and I want to start this season as I finished the last one.

"It is a young group, guys full of enthusiasm and they are good guys, willing to learn, and with the presence of the manager as well it all clicks in and we are all building slowly, little by little and that is all we can do.

"That's done on the training pitch, in and around the hotel, that's where you can really build as a team and winning games. The more games you win, the moral is always high. We just need to keep doing that and build.

"In the season I changed a bit of my diet. I went to do something a little bit different I hadn't done before and I had a little bit more KGs on me that I haven't had before. I think I was probably carrying a bit of extra weight, I had a few hamstring problems and probably towards the end of the season the hamstring was playing up again, and that was it; and me and the manager made a decision together to try and get the hamstring right."
