Chadwick delighted Man Utd defender Maguire proving critics wrong

Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick believes Harry Maguire can keep silencing his critics.

The center-back was taken away from the captaincy role by manager Erik ten Hag in the summer.

However, Maguire has come roaring back into the team, even displaying Raphael Varane in recent matches.

"Yeah without a doubt [I am happy for him] in terms of the resilience he has shown," ex-United midfielder Chadwick explained to Manchester Evening News.

"I think linking it to my case, what was completely out of order was the personal abuse Harry received on social media. As a football player you can kind of take the abuse about your football ability that might come your way because you always have confidence in yourself, particularly Harry who has done so well.

"The fact he got so much abuse was crazy really considering the success he has had. Of course he is at the biggest club in the world in Manchester United but I think he would have taken it on the chin people criticizing his performance because it is plain to see he always had confidence in his ability.

"It has been so pleasing for everyone to see him come back and be one of the best players in the United team in the last month or so. It is incredible testament to the character he showed because of the pressure he was under, as you always are at a club like Manchester United, but he is coming through it right now."
